Chocolate cake in a mug

Well I finally got around to making this tonight:

http://community.livejournal.com/deliciousdishes/41772.html

Very easy, although I found it better to add the milk and egg together, easier to mix without going doughy. Used my special non-Australian measuring spoons to get the 15ml tablespoon and a normal coffee mug of about 330ml. The chocolate chips tended to sink to the bottom of the mug, making it difficult to get out - guess you could just eat it with a spoon - but it was quite delicious. Might possibly dissolve a little instant coffee to get a more mocha flavour going - and white chocolate chips for colour interest.

Definite recommendation anyway.

Addendum: Eat while still warm as it goes heavy and hard when cold.

I've been thinking about trying that one - if I do, I'm putting mini chocolate chips in it. I still have a bag from when I made a bundt cake a while back - they didn't sink in there!

I used mini chocolate chips - and they definitely sank. The one I made today I even left them near the top of the cup yet they still sank. YMMV as the altitude (we're at 750m) may make a difference.

I've been meaning to try that. I will, one of these days, especially if I can figure out how to adapt it to other flavors.

My suggestions

Leave out the cocoa (obviously) substitute a little more flour or cornstarch and add:

frozen raspberries (or blueberries) and white chocolate chips; or
chopped apple and cranberries; or
chopped glace ginger and coconut (I know you don't like either of these); or
chopped bananas and dates; or
chopped dried apricots and white chocolate chips; or
use custard powder rather than cocoa and chopped apple

Howzat?

That's an assortment [g]. There might be a way to adapt it to spice cake flavored, too, with some cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
