Mar. 12th, 2011 11:25 pmLooks like our upright freezer has died. We will need to go ou tomorrow morning and get another one before everything defrosts. It will have to be another second-hand one as a new one costs over $1200. This last one we bought second-hand for $300 over 10 years ago so can't say we didn't get a good run out of it. But it's not something I wanted to be spending $$ on with the cash-flow issues we're having right now.
ETA: We went out this morning looking - secondhand freezers are rarer than rocking horse poop. Ended up in Hardly Normal's bargain basement and got a "second" Fisher & Paykel chest freezer for $399 down from $649. It's only 220 litres as opposed to the 300 litre upright that died but I guess that means we won't be able to stuff it full of things and forget about them. Fortunately I had a bit of space on one of the credit cards.
