Another easy one - from one of my favourites (again):
"Dutch comfort! Do you mean X ain't after you?"
"No, he only suspects he may be," replied Y. "He thinks I'm a trifle smoky."
"If he knew as much about you as I do," said Z, with feeling, "he's know you're a dangerous lunatic, and dashed well put you under restraint!"
With these embittered words, he drove off, leaving Y laughing, and waving farewell.
Who are X, Y and Z?
Which book?
What has Y been up to?

Date: 2007-10-28 05:33 am (UTC)I was putting the pointy things in the wrong spots - all fixed now, hopefully.
BTW Tora, I've been meaning to ask. Do you happen to know of an Indian sweetmeat that goes by the name of patteesa? (That's what the guy in the Lotus calls it anyway). It's a slab of yellow stuff and contains - at a guess - besan, ghee, sugar, cardamom and pitachios interleaved with a crunchy toffee in flaky layers. Absolutely my favourite one ever - even beats out the barfi - but I've no idea how it's made and was wondering if you might have heard of it. I know the cooking varies greatly from region to region but was hopefuly anyway.

As far as the sweet, it doesn't sound familiar, sorry! It does sound yummy though.
