I'm hoping it's something that simple - the problem is I can no longer tell where to go to reset my settings because all the bits of the journal are now in this foreign language. Aaaaaargh!!
Is it a Roman alphabet language or a Cyrillic one? If Cyrillic, it was probably LJ messing up again. Every once in a while, for short periods, they'll forget that most of their audience prefers English and goof things up.
And, yeah, cats can really wreak havoc with keyboards. I like to sit in the wing chair with the netbook when I'm writing, so I know all about cats and keyboards.
That definitely looks like some variation of Scandinavian. It really is weird. I wish I could help, but I'm clueless on that one. Mine reads just fine.

The bit at the top of my page reads like this:
[info]jekni Tili | Ohje | Kirjaudu ulos
Tee merkintä | Viestit (5) |Kaverisivu |Kutsu |Mobiili |LJ-poletit
Can't find anything in the settings. Weird isn't it?
