I think pointing and *squee*ing at the apposite and cool is fine etiquette.

Really, I think the only issues relate to passing off someone's work as your own, and reposting stuff (unattributed or otherwise) to another forum if the original one wasn't public. Also, reposting someone's content in full (if it's more than a couple of paras) is pretty tacky, I think, especially if it can be linked to.
